Why Bother with Jennifer Louden

I’ve been in business as an entrepreneur for 12 years. And anyone who has had their job for that long knows that every day is not going to be absolutely perfect.

But I know I’m not the only one who has felt like their world has been flipped upside down over the past four months.

Most days, I have tried just to GET THROUGH the day. I found myself questioning if I was really making an impact, or if my hard work really meant anything, or if life really had to be this way.

I felt like I had lost my spark.

Reading Jennifer Louden’s newest book, Why Bother, couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I know that I’m not the only CEO that has been feeling the way that I’m feeling, and I know I’m not the only person who needs to hear her message.

Not only is Jennifer an amazing friend of mine, but she is also one of the pioneers of the self-care movement for women. She hosts retreats, speaks all around the country, and has received praise from amazing women like Oprah and Bren Brown.

Jen chatted with me for the newest installment of The CEO Confessions on the Promote Yourself to CEO podcast to discuss fears, desires, and lessons from Why Bother. This is an episode you don’t want to miss – take a listen!

This week on Promote Yourself to CEO:

1:05 I give an update on how I’ve been handling the pandemic both emotionally and practically (spoiler alert: I moved into a new office in downtown Richmond, Virginia!).

5:55 I introduce our special guest, my personal friend, and women’s self-care expert, Jennifer Louden.

10:05 How to tap into your desires and re-align your work after periods of self-doubt and questioning.

13:40 What your emotional immune system is, and how it is impacting the way you show up as a CEO.

19:30 What you (and your clients) are ACTUALLY afraid of when you think you’re afraid of change, and how you can turn it into a good thing.

28:07 Making the most of this current moment, in the middle of the pandemic, and how your business will likely change forever for the better.

30:20 Jen’s checklist from Why Bother that resonated so deeply with me that I read it out loud to my husband!

33:25 You can’t force creativity, but you can feel refreshed and inspired by your hobbies. I share some of my favorites and how they help me.

36:12 We close with Jen sharing what being the CEO means to her.
